Part 1 My Story
Have you ever awoken in the morning and felt as if you had been run over by a car? Well, I did and as a result of an accident, I was left paralyzed.
In an instant my life changed. It took 6 months in the hospital and rehab to join the ranks of a very exclusive club, Spinal Cord Injury Survivor. Well, it really has taken much longer then that. In fact, I'm still trying. For a long time I have chosen not to talk or remember what has happened to me. I have devastated too many people’s lives and forever changed the future of my children, families and most of all, my life. I have selfishly changed their lives and made it more difficult. I lived in beautiful Western Pennsylvania at the time and was driving to the family camp in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The Geo Tracker was loaded with my girlfriend Kim, Cousin Jimmy and myself. It was going to be a wonderful time. I was looking forward to spending a few days with family and friends. I had not done that for many years. I was so happy. However, something happened that morning just 5 hours into the trip from my house that would change things forever. I had to face the worst that this life could hand me.
